Description
Pekin Bantams are small bantams with feathered legs, profuse plumage, and a friendly nature that makes them easy to keep and breed. Because of their excellent temperament, the breed is manageable for children (properly supervised), the elderly, and the disabled. This book explains their early history and discusses many of the personalities involved, past and present.
All facets of the breed are covered, including selection, housing, breeding, brooding, feeding, and common ailments, though stressing that the birds are hardy and their management generally. The author specialized in the Lavender variety but keeps other colors, and she has also drawn on the wide experiences of others who have been in the Fancy for very many years. On the show scene, she has been awarded many prizes, including the best in color (Lavender) at the national shows.
The book is well illustrated with photographs of prize-winning birds and essential equipment for keeping the birds. There is also a color section showing the principal colors available. Written for a wide audience as possible, it should meet the needs of all who are interested in this diminutive breed of poultry.
Written for as wide an audience
