Description
Poultry Colour Guide, First published in 1977 to mark the Centenary of the Poultry Club, has gone on to be read for almost a quarter of a century. It has also been published in an A5 version, covering large and bantams, but not ducks, geese, turkeys, and guinea fowl. This was to give more information on the development of colors of different breeds.
Following many requests for the return of the large format, which covers large fowl, bantams, ducks, geese, turkeys, and guinea fowl, the publishers have decided to reissue it with a few modifications. Most of the breeds still exist in their form as the first edition, so not a log change was needed; however, there is a new generation of poultry keepers, and it is to them that the book should appeal. We were fortunate in being able to cooperate with Charles Francis in placing on record the breeds and varieties of poultry, large fowl, bantams, ducks, geese, and guinea fowl. His task required skill and patience in painting the birds under our guidance. We believe this is the first attempt to illustrate the full range of domesticated poultry in their full beauty.
Poultry-keeping is a fascinating hobby. Yet many people are not even aware of its possibilities. Fewer still even appreciate the multitude of colors that are available. This book is intended for those who wish to know more about these practical, beautiful birds. It is a guide for the poultry fancier who has for as long required a work of reference.
